![]() The fundamentals of the photocatalytic property and the advantage of using the nanoparticles have been discussed and elucidated through several applications. The artificial phases of the material initiated through structural phase transitions by the application of high pressure and temperature are discussed because of their implications in creating the doped materials for the possibility of having an altered semiconducting band configuration. The second part of the article discusses on various properties of TIO2 for example, structural, electronic and photocatalytic properties and their important applications. Existing commercial processes of production of TIO2 for example, the sulphate and the chloride processes are discussed in terms of their advantages and disadvantages. In that, several processes of upgrading the titanium slags have been given in detail through respective flowsheets. Following through the description of different natural and synthetic source materials, a discussion is given on the beneficiation and upgrading of ores. The article discusses on significant industrial production processes through several subsections. The article is an overview on titanium dioxide that describes the various production processes with beneficiation and upgrading of source materials and the important properties that led to potential applications.
